Özlem has almost two decades of experience in branding, marketing and communications. Beginning her career in research and strategy at MTV Europe, she served Turkey’s largest advertising agency in the late 90’s where she set up their first planning department. She was then headhunted by Doğan Holding in 1997 to be part of the launch team at CNN Turkey, Turkey’s then second ever news channel, where she headed Research and Marketing.
During 2000-2004 she worked as a strategist for London’s largest independent advertising agency on projects such as the rebranding of British European Airlines as flybe.com and the ‘Keep discovering’ Emirates Advertising Campaign. From 2004 until she founded BrandSeers in 2011 she was an independent brand strategist working on pan-European new product development, brand strategy and design projects for clients such as British American Tobacco, Procter and Gamble, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Yahoo!
Her ambition in setting up BrandSeers was to act as a catalyst for creating successful global Turkish brands and advance consumer centricity and innovation in brand experience design. She is particularly known for her dedication and expertise to ensure internal business culture is aligned with external brand promise and brands are upheld by motivated, engaged and informed cultures.
Alongside her career, she is known to play an active role in charity organisations. In London she was an active committee board member for Breast Cancer Care and has provided pro-bono communications consultancy to the Bir Dilek Tut Türkiye Board throughout their re-launch as Make-a-Wish Foundation Turkey.
She holds a Bachelor of Honors degree in German and Business Studies from London University. She speaks fluent English, Turkish and German. She currently hosts her own TV show on Branding; 7 Exper, on Business Channel Turk every Wednesday and is a mentor on the Brand Practice MA Programme at Sabancı University.
